New taillight conversion help

ok so im thinking of switching my taillights off my 97 dak with a rams
i was thinking if i just find a wrecked ram and cut the taillights out along with some sheet metal from them on the sides and then bend it in to make it work and weld it in?
or any better ideas
all comments appreciated thanks guys

yeah as far as i know it should work out pretty easy just got to work on the inside of the bed . as far as the boltin the taillights up to somthing and having an area to bolt and unbolt them . i know this has been done and i'll see if i can find it for ya but it looks pretty good , mostly because it's flush and not odd like ours.

Yea it shouldnt be to hard just need alil fab skills.Id cut a large chunk of the back off n then cut what you need to make it fit later.

if you can go to a wreckers find a smashed up ram box that the taillight housing is still good. and cut it out.

this way you have all the mounting brackets you need to fasten the taillight in. it might be easyier if you dont have the tools to fab you own mounts

i dontthink you could flush are lights cuase ther shaped diffrent then the box corner. but you could french them set them in 1/2" or sooo it would be suddle.

i have seen a dakota with the shaved taillight kit welded in but they cut the ram head out on them and built a removable section in side the bed for access to the bulbs. i think they used trailer lights.

mhm i wonder if you could kinda roll the back fender or something like that near the taillight and make them flush...
i will have to look at the truck tomorrow and see
