fix it options....
i've been tearing my head apart trying to figure out what to do with my truck.
i can either
replace the cab corner. which may be the cheapest option, but can easily become a nightmare
replace the cab, more expensive, but it would be much simpler, almost to the point of easy compared to the cab corner.(i may get a non 'kota beater if i go with this option)
replace the truck, mucho dinero. but i'd keep with a dakota and the 2.5l. i'd just start from scratch. (no beater)
get a beater, turn my dak into a project only, no more daily
get a project 'kota, self explanitory, keep this one as a daily

Batman,
how much fabicration skillz do you have? It will cost the same amount of money to buy a new cab, as it would to buy a welder and sheet metal to fix it. I've fixed my truck 5 or 6 times, it's a Gen I and I keep putting money into it. I'm attached to it so I'll keep rebuilding it, as long as it is possible, but that's just me.

i have no actual exp. fabricating so i don't know, but i'm real good with my hands, and a quick study
i'm getting a welder anyway, but not if i get more than the corner
this is my first car altogether, i'm more attached than is healthy
when i saw the damage for the first time, my passenger side hurt like a bitch
i'm just needing some help making my mind up, i love this truck and i'd hate to see it go but on the other side of the coin, is it worth the headache/$$$ some times? i need to think of my financial future.
i might be further ahead to get a beater and replace the cab,

have you thought about trying to fix the metal that is there? It will take hours but it most likely can be pulled out and pounded back into shape.
