1996 US Spec - Turn on DRL help needed

I expect to be moving to Windsor before long and will be bringing my '96 Dakota with me. I am pretty much all set with the exception of activating DRLs.

I know I can put relays on the headlight circuits to get them legal. However, I was wondering if there is a more Original Equipment way to add them. Is there a Relay pre-wiring that the Canadian spec vehicles just have installed?

Help!

not sure.... but I think your best bet would be to call a Canadian Dodge dealership.....I would also call the OPP or 1 800 O-Canada (1 800 622-6232) and see if you are even required to activate them....there are vehicles up here that do not have DRL... I'm not sure what year DRL's started or what the fine print on the subject is

i think on most of the GEN3 trucks its just a setting in the PCM that has to be activated. I would bet a 96 might have the same feature as its the start for obd2. Like amberfire said, you should contact a canadian dealer if you do indeed have to have them activated.

When in doubt, gas it. It will either fix the problem, or at the very least end the suspense.

I went to a seminar today at the Candadian Border Services and found that I do indeed need to activate the DRLs. My truck is less than 15 years old and is admissable to Canada.

I still need to get a Safety and Emission done when I get it here. Then, the title and registration get converted when I get to the RIV.
