Bought a 2003 Durango disc brake 9.25 rear end looking for ideas...

I bought a rear axle out of a 03 Durango with disc brakes. I was lucky to find one on eBay for cheap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...213913080&rd=1

I want to be able to plant the power and I knew the 8,25 would hold up. So who's done it and should I go with Caltracs or a 4 link?

Are the spring perches spaced the same? I read somewhere that the rear end was about 1/2 wider overall than mine. Is that right?

Where do I go from here???

damn thats cheap and it was right down the road from my gf's moms house. I would love to have been able to pick one up that cheap. I wish I would have known that was there. I have to go see what else they have got in there recently

John
When in doubt, gas it. It will either fix the problem, or at the very least end the suspense.

I've heard that the spring perches aren't the same width apart but can't say for sure. Damn! One killer deal you got that for.

Yea, I love eBay! The largest swap meet on the planet... I've had a fav-search running for a Dakota / Durango 9.25 axle for about a month and it just popped up today and I nabbed it. Hell I don't even know if its 2WD or 4WD axle. I figured for the price I could have the perches shaved off and new ones added where I wanted them.

But do I want leaf springs or go bags with a 4 link? This truck is not going to be a frame dragger but I would like to drop it down a few and I want to be able to hook and carry the front at the strip.

Anyone have some good pics or links to a strong 4-link suspension in an early 90 Dak?

So what was the difference in inches between the Durango and Dakota? Were the Durango's wider or narrower than your Dak's at the spring perches?

Hey, my 03 Durango 9.25 rear came in today. Man it looks big compared to the 8.25... It measures 65" WSM-WSM and 47" to the outside of each perch. Both pertchs are 2.5" wide. Perches are on the bottom (Axle on top of the springs) and it has disc brakes. I'll post some pics in the morning.

Frank

Here it is... Nice strapping, don't you think? Most of the tie raps were ripped and pulled through. This bitch is heavy! This was a 2WD 2003 Durango.
