hey board i got bored so i figured id do an easy and cheap mod so here it is. I put blue leds in the bottom of my doors and wired them so they come on when i open my door. Im going to add 1 or 2 more to each door i think.

haha good job! I think boredom is the mother of all inventions, not necessity. i did the same thing a while back except i used white leds. I wish it was something I thought of when I first got the truck. They are quite useful when stepping out in the dark and parked somewhere unfamiliar like someones lawn, etc.

and yes it really is quite easy if you have power locks. You just tap the wire that is always hot for the power locks and then the wire that reads ground when the door is open. I dont remember the colors though. Then whenever you open the door, it grounds and completes the circuit. The best part is that all the wiring is done inside the door and you dont have to run any new wires (providing you have power locks)

i dont have power locks so i just ran power to my fuse panal and the ground i wired into the dome light since i didnt want to start cutting into the door plunger.

well you arent really cutting anything different than when you tapped the wire for the dome light. It works out nicely since you only have to tap into two wires that are already there for power locks and the one for the door open signal is conveniently place in the door because that sensor is built into the door latch instead of being like on the door frame. I am just mentioning this for the people who do have power locks, so they dont put in more work than is required for them.
