dash opinions needed
i have the ac controls directly under the radio on the dash. well i am relocating them to the glove box and installing air gauges there. im also thinking of smoothing the whole dash and then painting it black, maybe some body color details.
now the opinion i need is how to fill in the hole. but i dont know how i should do it:
a. make a glassed mold of the controls so i can just bolt the new piece w/ the gauges in place
b. glass the whole thing to smooth it out and to provide the mount( im leaning toward this idea right now)
c. use sheet metal to make a bracket, then paint it to match the dash
any other color ideas?
should i angle the gauges toward the driver or just mount straight?

Bro you are asking a lot of us, we need to see some examples...... Seriously though, just glass over the whole, smooth everything out, than use a whole saw the size of your gages and your done. Pretty simple approach.

it really depends on what your looking for. If you just want to do something simple, just get a flat piece of abs plastic and bolt it in from the back. then just cut three holes into it for gauges. or if you want to go all out just glass the whole shut and go for the smoothed look. OH and if you need a spare dash to work on i have 3 soon to be 4 spares. i also have a spare set or two of the ac controls.

I would probably try and angle them towards the driver I think that would look a little bit "Cooler" but just mounted straight in would be okay too. I would hold the gauges in my lap if I could just have air bags that would necessitate air gauges. ;|

J&J is always open, unfortunately the MD location is closed this weekend, but the VA location is open. If you want to wait till the first weekend of sep when the MD location should be open again
