lowering block question
I just put 3 inch lowering blocks on my 92 dakota and the leaf springs are almost completely flat. How bad is that? Are they going to snap or is the ride just going to be bad? Probably a stupid question, but I just don't want to lay frame unexpectedly on the way to work. Thanks.

They are the original leafs. Nothing removed. I will try to get some pics tomorrow. I'm used to working on cars, so I am not too familiar with the leaf springs. Definitely lowering blocks, the cheap way to go, I know, but I just wanted to go lower and not spend a fortune.

thats normal. drop spindle will run you $199 for 2in drop. i'd recommend western chassis spindles, since i run them on baggs and i beat the shit out of them. you can get em at sporttruckdirect.com or order up some belltech coils for a 2 in drop
for one. if you swap coils you need new shocks. possibly ball joints which will lead to a alignment. there is no easy way to drop the front an inch while doing it the right way. just get some buddys together on a weekend and pop the coils out and cut the old shocks out. (you could cut 1 in out of the stock coil to get about 1.5 in of drop)
if you do fork out the money for new shocks all the way around since the stock ones are not made to compress that low. get either kyb or toxic cuz belltech shocks rust out.

my dads gen 1 is the same as that. theres hardly any arc and seems that the older they get they tend to loose there arc a little.
