Suspension Suggestions
OK The RT was lowered when I bought it. I got it off a car lot so I have little information on what was done. I found out it had some kind of a flip in the rear and had lowering springs put in the front. Well it has a very stiff no up and down suspension. I would love to get set up to do Autox and some Drag racing. So if I am going to have to spend money on the suspension any way, what do you guys think I should do? I would like to keep the lower stance, but I will do what I need to do to get it to handle better in the curves. Thanks for your input......I need ideas so I can decide what I can do...
OK I am going with a 3link in the rear w/ coil overs. So now I just need to figure out the front.

wishbone 3 link with QA1 coil overs..convert the front to coil-over also..
i found out at college that the wishbone holds up really well to drag and auto x. especially since it wont bind like a parallel.

The 3 link was what I was leaning towards also.
What would it take to convert the front end to coil overs?
I have never done any thing like this. Thanks for any help..

Why not install a hotchkis TVS suspension? They don't make them for the Gen III Dakotas anymore but that's not to say they can't be had either new old stock from a supplier, ebay, or on forum boards. Simple bolt-on, you keep your lowered stance and the handling is greatly improved.

like alta boy said hotchkis tvs would be your best bet. its a 2/3 drop with sway bars. they dont make them anymore but they are still possible to find. im pretty sure that Brad (brad99rt59) from dakota-durango.com still has his for sale. converting to coilovers is expensive and requires alot of custom fab work. the hotchkis tvs is a bolt-in kit

If I bag just the front of my truck, do I have to have a tank or can I just have a pump? I want to keep the weight of the truck down as much as possible.
What are my options as for bagging the truck? I DO NOT want to lay frame.
I do want to keep it handling good and drag race with it some.
I like the idea of it being low on the road, but it being up in parking lots and on dirt roads.
I am still going with a 3link in the back, but should I do coil over's or bags in the back?
I do not have any experience with this kind of stuff.

i wouldn't recommend bags in the rear if you want to race it (to much weight shift for a bag)..also yes you need a tank

whats already mentioned above, my opinion upgrade the brakes to 03+ but no cross drilled rotors, x brace kit, and you can go air bags for racing but the bags arent cheap "$800? a set", QA1 shocks if no bags which are adjustable racing shocks

OK so I stay with putting a 3link with coil over's in the back. So that is the plan for the rear.
Now the front. I go with air bags, so how big of a tank do I need? Along with a pump? What else will I need? Do you keep your coil springs when you bag the front? What brand do I go with? Who do I buy them from? I hear to stay away from AIM...
I don't need the fancy stuff just the stuff that works and look descent.
I sill want to be able to drive from Maryland to North Carolina (my home state) for the holidays and family things.
Lets keep it simple.
Thanks for any help....

I assume you mean the back brakes. Why not cross drilled?
I was thinking about getting an x brace, do you have one on your truck?
