rent a coil spring compressor from a parts store. (which is the ASE way of doing it)

or get a jack under the control arm..
-first use loosing the ball joint castle nuts half way off the ball joint and break the ball joints free..(the springs will put pressure and help break em free). then jack the arm up so you can get the spindle off. slowly let the jack down..[reall slow and keep and eye on the spring cuz it can severly hurt you]
once the jack is down far enough all the pre-load on the spring will be gone and you can pull it out with your hands.
--it will help if you loosin the lower control arm bolts so the arms can move further down.

hope that helps at all..either way make sure the shock is out first

they are very right but renting the compressors is deffinately the safest way and most parts stores have a free loaner tool program that you just need to leave a deposit then you get it back when you return the tool

Cut em in peices... haha.

No no no, dont do that.

It did make it easier to get the stock ones off my contour when I bought it at 16 years old. But they were both already cut/snapped in half.
