2007 Dodge Dakota R/T Static Drop

Here is my first how to so be nice and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Parts needed:
1) Lowboys front coil over kit (Thanks to my man here for the lead)
2) Universal perch purchased mine from summit racing
A lift is very helpful, a spring compressor is a must, jack stands, hydraulic jack and tools

Put your truck on a lift if possible to get under

Once in the air you can access the Ubolts and make room for the new perch

Loosen the Ubolts in order to make room to weld the perch

The Perch ordered were a bit small and needed slight grinding for a snug fit

Now you can line up your perch under the axle with the same angle as the factory on top of the axle

Once in place, weld them up

Now that your perch are welded on both sides under the axle, bolt your ubolts back up and head home to work on the rest

Now in a secure place, jack up the rear of your truck. Be sure to utilize jack stands and chalks to secure the truck and remove the wheeels

Here you can see the ubolts nuts ontop of the axle (Take 'em off)

Once Ubolts have been removed you can see the leaf spring bolt that will need to be reversed

Lower the truck and remove the front and rear bolts of your leaf springs.

Be sure to remove the brake line clamp for the rear. This makes it MUCH easier however there is a trick to removing the clamp on the brake line.

Now with the leaf springs removed you can reverse your leafspring nut so the nut in on the bottom of the leaf

Put your Ubolts back on Underneith and line up the Ubolt nipple to sit inside the perch hole and bolt everthing back up

Use your jack to push the leaf in place and tighten all nuts and bolts, don't forget to put your brake lines back.

All you have to do now is replace your bumpstops and put your wheels back on. If you want it lower you can add blocks now and or remove the payload leaf or run mono leaf.

Now to lower front, you need to use some of the same tools I.E. Chalks, Jack Stands, Hyd. Jack etc...

First you need to remove your wheels

Now remove the upper A arm and release the pressure on the factory coilovers

Now that they are loose you can remove the control arms. Don't forget the 3 nuts on top

Do the same to the other side and remove both of your factory coil overs

Here is a pic of the factory control arms Vs the New low boys

Remove the springs with a spring compressor, DO NOT TRY Without a compressor

You will need to reverse the springs to install on the new coil overs. And then reinstall the same way you have taken them off.

Bolt everything back up on both sides and torque to spec

That's it, reinstall everything and put back on your wheels

Now you're ready to roll
Be sure to get low profile bumpstops and drop shocks, your body will thank you.

Looks great!

Please post more pictures! I'm putting this link into the thread of great info I've started.

How's the ride quality of the coilovers in the front?

The coil overs are AWESOME, great ride and very solid.

The rear, I still need to order my drop shocks but I need to take several measurements before purchasing them.
These are not ones they have on the shelf.

Is there anymore information I should add to this How To?
