Suggestions for 4.7 upgrades

Does anyone have any suggestions on 4.7 upgrades on a 2003 Dak? Thinking of cold air intake and dual exhaust. Haven't decided on which manufacturer yet. Any input would be great.

Yeah, been looking at the K&N intake for it. Wasn't sure if I would get significant improvements with the chip. Thinking of getting a dual exhaust but not sure on that one yet. Possibly just going to get a better muffler such as flowmaster or something of that nature. Thanks for the suggestion baldbeaver.

get the K&N, i just got mine a couple of months ago for my 04 dak 4.7L, and i love it. Besides the great sound (it sounds like i put an exhaust on it), i get better gas mileage

Does anyone know where I can get a cam for my 4.7? I already have a K&N, Gibson exhaust, and a few other bolt-on parts, but now I am looking to do some real work to the block with new pistons and the whole deal, but I am having trouble finding a cam. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have a 2003 Dak. 4.7L with a K&N Fuel Injection Intake, Airade Throttle Body Spacer, Cherry Bomb Muffler and pipes. Im getting new 3in exhast ( dont know what kind yet) all the way back and Hooker Shorty headers. The intake sounds great and I get more power to the wheels and the throttle body spacer whistles and spins the air "faster" but who knows. If you you have an intake and you dont change the exhaust then you have done nothing to inprove your performance that you will feel. Its like taking a sugar pill you think its great but you have done nothing.

With a flowmaster only I dynoed 199 HP 262 TQ in 4th on an otherwise stock quadcab. I ran the K&N drop in because the flow is higher than stock and you will never exceed the cfm to need a cone filter. Like dj said, check out KRC for the cams. Save your money and dont get a throttle body spacer. Use it on the headers or another useful mod.

Also I believe TheFastman does cams for the 4.7 guys. I don't think it is listed on his website but if you give him a call and talk to him about it i'm pretty sure he can help you out. I'd recommend a PCM flash or a superchips handheld programmer, apparently they are supposed to wake up your trucks quite a bit. In addition to the K&N air intake and the programmer or PCM flash, a new y-pipe will really help out. I think the y-pipe is the biggest cork in the exhaust system from the factory, so get a custom 3" mandrel bent Y pipe made up when you do the rest of your 3" exhaust system. As previously mentioned, don't even bother with a throttle body spacer. If you'd like to upgrade throttle bodies I know F&B makes new billet pieces and TheFastman ports your stock throttle bodies with good results.
