Port supercharger or smaller TB?

so i just got my kenne bell and not even a day later i am already running into isues. I have a 72MM F&B TB that i wanted to use for the blower but its bigger than the inlet tube on the KB. Should i get a smaller TB or should i just port the inlet tube on the KB? here is a pic with the TB open showing the part of the inlet that sticks out on the left side.

There isnt that much room to grind down on the inlet, but i should be able to at least bevel it down to help smooth the air flow if i stay with this size TB. The red shows the area that sticks out.

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics

gently port it. only go about 1/4" or 3/8" deep, just to make it a smooth transition.

Agreed! Any pertruding square edge in any air intake system whether it's in a blower, TB or intake manifold causes power robbing air turbulance. Round and smooth is good!!

keep the 72 and smooth out the KB! otherwise you would prob have to go back to a 68mm to fit it.

When porting heads and an intake manifold, you want the intake manifold port a little smaller than the head port to prevent turbulence from the airflow running into a possible protrusion of the head. There is some amount of play/alignment differences as the intake manifold fits onto the head and this prevents a mismatch as the intake is bolted to the head. The same should be true for your blower tube mating with your TB. You can port the blower tube a bit but make sure it is a little smaller than the TB inlet.

Even if you leave it the way it is for now it's not going to kill performance. You are under boost and the engine is force fed. Also, if you decide to go to a smaller TB in the future you shouldn't have a mismatch problem as you might by porting it.

If you do port it, ideally you want a smooth and gradual transition and not an abrupt change.

Its for a 4.7L, most people either get a R/T (5.9L) or a HEMI (5.7L). I dont know of anyone that has/had a 72mm TB and a kenne bell. The biggest TB i know of on a kenne bell is a 70MM and i think its a stock ported TB.

say what now? you got that bass ackwards

if anything you'll want the blower opening BIGGER than the OUTLET of the throttle body.

ideally, especially when you can see it youd want it to the be same size.
