318 and 360 basically drop right in... 87-95 are all the same essentially, only difference is the need for an E-fan in the first gen, or a puller in front of the rad... go at it how you will.... There isn't enough room for a belt driven under the hood of the first gen.

yours a v6? iirc it will bolt up, but the trans wont last long if you beat on it. it would be best to find a 727 also. its gonna be a tight fit in your truck as the nose is shorter than the 91 up

In regards to the tranny comment, if you have a v6 you can use the same setup as the v6 and it will bolt right up to a LA 318. If you use a 360 you will need to use a completely dfferent setup in a first gen, because the factory clutch and bell housing are a 10.5". Also a 360 is externally balanced which right away signifies that you need a different flywheel or torque converter. When I first did a swap in my 87' I used the factory A535 5speed tranny and it didn't last very long at all but if your going to drive like your grandma you'll be okay. After I went through 2 5speed trannys I upgraded to a 727 which will bolt up to the factory tranny mount the only thing is it depends on how you engineer your motor mounts. If worst comes to worst you will just end up moving the tranny crossmember, and if you want to keep your motor cool with out using an electric fan you have just walked into buying a brand new radiator and moving the motor back even further. I would definitely recommend buying a bigger radiator anyway cause i had a mechanical fan and an electric pusher on the factory radiator and the truck would still get to about 210 in traffic. Any other questions PM me
