if i were you instead of the 5.2 which is the 318, or a 360 which is a 5.9, i would suggest looking for a 440 or 383 or have someone with some tech savy give you a hand. Your best bet is a donor from a wrecker, or better yet a insurance total loss, this way you get everything you need, or almost everything you need.

google this website. sgi salvage, bids close every wed morning @ 730am. anybody can register online and place a bid. i have bought over 50 vehicles from them. i usually just place the min reserve bid, but it has become more competitive last few yrs. you can also look and see what the vehicels have sold for, by selecting bid results, let me know if you need any help.

i'm only vaguely familiar with the 360. however, the 318 is a very good choice if you're considering a small block v-8. if you have a person that can do good machine work, they can bore the cylinders out for you which will give you some added HP. keep in mind that if you decide to have machine work done to the 318, you will most likely have to change out the crankshaft. the stock cranks are made of iron, you will probably want to go to a steel crank. there are many other different additional modifications you can go with. a lot of it depends on what you want out of the motor and how much money you are willing to spend.
