Dash Skin Removal

Has anyone completely pulled your dash off? I've had mine pullled back for purposes of doing the heater / air cond cores but not all the way out.

while picking up some kick panels today at the salvage yard today i saw a dash for my truck that was already out. it was only the plastic cover, no bracing. i was suprised that it was so flexible and flimsy and looked like it would be very easy to remove. but when i had mine pulled back for the heater core job it was very stiff and hard to move. i suspect it was cause
the steel bracing was still on it.

has anyone removed the shell of the grill alone? i'm thinking about either smoothing / painting it, glassing it, carbon fibering it.....not sure. i don't need any help with what i'm going to do with it just wondering why when i did my job it was so diffcult to move and this is just a flimsy pos....
