1988 dakota...new interior, etc

i bought this as a beater truck, but i still want to fix up some of the things to make it nicer. first off the interior smells horrible (its a work truck) and the carpet was VERY dirty and nasty...so today i took out the rear side panels, pillars, seats, etc (havent got to the dash/door panels yet) and i degreased the hell out of them. well most of the pieces are faded all different shades of tan, so i cleaned them all up first to get the dirt and crap off, and i have some nice black vinyl laying around (its a good quality vinyl) and glue so im going to cover all the pieces in black vinyl, and probably the headliner in black suede and maybe the door inserts in suede too.

well after taking the seats out i noticed how dirty the carpet really was...smelt horrible... stains everywhere etc... i was gonna get carpet and glue it over the stock carpet like i did in my other car, but its just to nasty so i threw it out and ill just buy a new carpet set in black. under the carpet was just as nasty.....

first thing i took off as it was the easiest lol. i cleaned it up and then covered it

look how dirty ....

i put that paint there too, im gonna sand that down and just spray paint it black, itll never be seen except the very top right under the plastic trim piece, and i dont want that creme color so spray paint will do.

held in place

heres the really nasty part. i didnt even get a pic of it with the carpet in, i was disgusted.

i started to clean the passenger side before i took this pic

where the seats bolt to... ill hit it with some of that rust inhibitor stuff. no real bad rust issues except the bed, and even that isnt TOO bad. when i find a new bad for cheap ill get a new one, since mine is too dented to be worth while fixing up.

also getting thrown out

i couldnt get the little trim piece at the bottom of the door out...the screws were rusty and the heads were all messed up and i even tried drilling them out and it didnt work so i broke it and ill just have to get another plastic piece from a junkyard or ebay.

Haha yea

Yea I didn't want to paint/dye becuase it can chip/get scratched.

The door panels will be covered in black vinyl too like that rear piece I already covered, and black suede on the little insert piece on the door by the handle. The speaker grille I will just paint black.

As far as carpet goes, is there any company you suggest I go with? I need to order it tonite so it'll be here soon so I can put the seats back in, until I get the seats covered too.

I see a bunch of differnt kits on ebay but from different sellers. I'm going with black carpet too
