Ok, this is not a general question but I didn't know where else to post sorry if it should not be here.

I made the mistake of not buying my truck with power locks and windows because I have put in factory parts into my friends cars and everything is great.

I have been told that it is going to be a little harder with my truck. So here goes. Does anyone know where I can get a detailed wiring diagram for the power locks and windows.

I have done a lot of research on this and have not been able to turn up much information. I know that I am probably going to have to swap out the CTM with that of a higher model dakota.

To give you some insite to this the reason I am going all factory parts is because I like the clean look and with factory door panels and controlers would make things great.

Thanks for any input and help into this subject.

I had manual windows and locks in my previous truck. If you get an alarm installed, they will install actuators for the door locks. You should go to a stereo shop for this and not the dealer. For the windows, there are a few companies out there that make conversion kits. I installed an electric life(I think) conversion kit. It was fairly simply, only thing I would suggest is to buy the factory switches from Dodge so it looks stock. The stereo shop should be able to do this as well.

another twist to your question... If you ever decide to shave your door handles...... theres really no point in having power door locks. Acually, you don't want them at all because if you axidently hit the switch... your screwed

I don't know much about shaved door handles how do they work? I know that there is a selnoid (SP) that is installed. But do you have to leave you doors unlocked? I know this is a dumb question but never messed with them.

With shaved door handles there is no lock. You install solenoids and hook them up to an alarm. When you unlock the truck the alarm activates the solenoid which opens up the door. There is no need to lock the door because you can't get into the truck without the alarm remote. If you keep your door locks and it locks, the solenoid will not pop the door open, because its locked. Hopefully this didn't confuse you too much :p

Ok that makes more sense to me now. I am shaving the door handles off of the rear doors on my accord, but didn't know exactly how it worked. I think the truck will keep the handles. LoL

Now that we are on the subject, most likely will the shop remove the power lock system just from the back doors or will the whole system have to go?
