No, all by the books. I read on this other forumn that my heater core could be clogged with debris, which could be causing this but not too sure...

recently did an engine re-haul 8k miles ago. new gaskets all around, no need for stop leak

Hmm, I've never run across this myself. But just thinking it through it would make sense that somewhere in the system there is a clog that's blocking flow to the pump, which is causing a section to be under vacuum.

I guess work your way out from the pump and find what is and isn't under vacuum and hopefully that will help point to where the blockage actually is.

I've heard of using tranny fluid when you do an oil change to get rid of gunk built up in your engine. Not sure if that would be appropriate in this situation, but the concept might work? A detergent or some sort of plumbing cleaner run through the system to get rid of anything built up.

Short of that, I'm at a loss.

The spring inside has probably deteriorated or the rubber itself, I doubt that you have such a serious blockage that it's causing this.

stupid question but did u make sure that the new lower hose has the coil inside or is it a stiff hose.

sometimes parts stores mix shit up and give u the wrong one. u nvr kno

The bottom hose is collapsed as well i noticed today. So that might be the problem Dragn

the lower hose is your engine inlet. aka suction side. check this hose and go from there
