I had an 01 3.9 that was getting 7-9 city. I hated that truck
Improved gas mileage on my 98 3.9 magnum
Wanted to share with the fellow v-6 members. For the past 6 months, I have been getting terrible gas mileage in my truck. been averaging 10 in the city and 18 on the high way and I drive my truck very slowly. It has new tune up, new o2's, filters, coil. just was getting terrible mileage and the a/c was killing the truck. I just decided to put some new plugs. been reading about the new E3 platinum plugs. they sell them at advance auto parts. while there went back to the original breather box and bought a k and n filter. the plugs and filter was under $80 with my military discount. So I installed both and then filled the truck up. I have been driving in the city with the a/c on and stop and go traffic. i got 239 miles out of 14 gallons. WOW. and the power the truck has is unbelivable. I did the math and it equaled to almost 17 miles in the city. what a differance. I am going to test the truck on the highway this weekend and will post the mileage on their. What are some other v-6 members getting?

thats not a bad deal at all mine is an 05
wow i do not know how u can afford it. i know the 9 miles was killing my budget lolI get about 5 mpg in the city

I have a 2000 RC 3.9 I bought the truck with 44,688 miles. Now the truck has 168ish. I've kept up regular maintenance, oil changes with Mobil 1 5000 10w30 Autolite 3920s and air filters every now and then. Well at about 100k the trucks mileage when to hell. It needs o2's and a cat. I fill up every 340 to 350 miles I use to get 380ish once I got 402 miles right when the truck was new to me anyway...lol. SoI it gets the usual 15-16mpg and most of those miles are highway. IF I do anydriving in the city...oh its less like right around 300 miles Im at E.
Its been a great little truck. Reliable, fun and fairly quick....lol. I just scored a 5.9 for a deal so Im hoping to swap it soon. I originaly planned to swap a V-8 after 200k but I got a killer deal on the 5.9 so... might as well get 16ish MPG and have the power to equate the mileage!!!! Thats my biggest complaint. If I ever wanted 16mpg I woulda gotten a V8 to begin with...ya know?
Yes I could swap the O2 sensors and replace the cat but screw it. the 5.9 has 58k miles on it and the trans was rebuilt 8k ago. a lot better than the 168k motor and trans.

I've got a 99 3.9 5spd. No cat duals, k&n CIA, relocated air temp sensor, TB, NGK's and new cap and rotor. I don't hot rod, use 5th in town and can get 19-20 without the AC even tank (don't drive her in the winter). The AC does drop it down but its real cold so who cares.
Nice bike barlow. I miss mine badly, but the wife wont let me get one
yeah nice bike, i love my cruiser and i'm so glad i don't have to wear those bright vests anymore there so dumb!
