So I said I would get a thread up as soon as I started the audio work on the new 2003 Dakota Quad Cab I have. Currently, removing the infinity door speakers to replace with Polks. Will have pictures up shortly of stock amp and the replacement amp (Blaupunkt THA 475 Pnp Amp).

So I pulled the door panels off of the 2003 Dakota excepting it to be the same as the 2001. It wasn't at all. The stock speaker spacers (2003) are at least an inch or more taller than the 2001. After pulling the speakers out of their holes I realized why. There in a bar of metal and window weather stripping that is right in the way of where the speakers in to sit. So I guess I'll have to use the stock spacers to get the Polk to work since they are not the slimline speakers.

Sorry, for such the delay on getting to the amp install. The company I work for is going through some changes, so I have a different 'shift' to work. I might have delay the amp build to either when the plant shuts down for the holidays or til the first of 2010.

I will update on the speakers how ever...

Put the Polk db651 coaxials in the front doors over the weekend. Now I have the stock infinity tweeter and the coaxial Polks in the front doors. Just ordered some Polk for the back doors. They'll probably be in the truck around Christmas.

im about done with girls...they cost to much and only delay my truck!
Ha! that is why I'm single. If I had a girlfriend I wouldn't have the money I have to spend on the truck.

FAIL!!!! lol okay. and what have you considered?
I considered put a couple shallow mounts behind the rear seats but I'd rather not lose the ablilty to raise the seats. Then I considered just waiting til a good deal came up and either get another dakota or a durango and do just audio work to it.

As I said before though I won't be able to continue/start the amp swap until the holidays roll around. Because my work closes for two weeks during the holidays. Plant shuts down Dec 23rd. So don't expect anything new about the amp swap or any picture until then.

I don't know if the regular audio systems came with an amp but I know the infinity systems did. Since I have a quad cab I have enough to do a shallow mount. But since money is tight right now can't spend any more on the audio

i replaced all my speakers with Alpine type R coaxels and they sound good but it wouldn't hurt to amp them.....what amp did you use for the replacement of the stock....and where is the location of the stock amp on a 01 quad with infinity sound system

The sotck amp location is behind the passenger side kickpanel. The amp I used is a Blaupunkt THA 475 (720W) amp.
