here it is, they take your stock axles out and send them to moser.... you can either have your stock axles shortened /resplined... or you can buy new axles from them.... I am buying new ones because I have a V8 and I want the strongest rear set up possible so i can still put my foot on the gas and not worry..... then moser sends your axles back to the shop, at the shop they cut down your axle housing and then re-square it.... then put your new axles in and call it a day !

there should be absolutely no difference wether its a dakota or not.... you need to clarify to the shop that you just want your housing shortend! the axels themselves will come from moser..... some shops might be thinking that you want them to shorten both the housing and the axle.
I am taking it to a shop in richmond VA...
there are ones in VA, North carolina, fredricksburg VA, and Maryland. Im sure someone out there can do it...... lata

interesting.... so theres no magical square root to pie action. I'm assuming any desent machine shop should be able to cut the axle housing down for ya if ya do all the grunt work yourself like degutting and cleaning. Then just buy the axles at this place you sudjested. No special milling of a gasket on the end of the housing?

well.... from what I was told by the shop, is that they have to "re-square it"... no clue what that means haha.... but it seems to be a very simple process. I dont know why dakota owners arn't getting this done..... I'll let you know when mine is finished

I'm sending mine to Moser too...they're only about an hour from here....From what i calculated the narrowed rear end will be worth its weight in gold.
