I was at a tractor pull the other day and saw a 3rd gen Dakota that sounded like a V8 should. But my friend said he had a V6 in it. I want that sound in my truck. I have a stock muffler Y-ed to 3.5" tips. People ask if its a V8 when Im at idle but sound shitty when I accelerate. Any suggestions?

ive got a 3.9, with the pipe ran out before the rear passenger tire. its 2.5 inch pipe all the way to a flowmaster 40 with a single gibson tip. i've had people call me a liar when i told them it was a v6 and made me pop the hood. it doesnt sound like a v6 till around 4000 rpms. ill put up a pic later.

no matter what, you cant make a v6 sound like a v8, un debatable.

the closest ive heard was a 09 challenger with a 3.5l in it and had a full magnaflow exhaust, but you could still tell it was not a v8

Hey thanks for the feed back guys. I just got resonator removed and a magnaflow dual out to 3.5 tips. It sounds sick. Now it dont sound like a pissed off weed-eater when I get on it. Was thinking of removing the cats. Any feedback on that?

I added a K&N air intake system for 4.7L, didn't require much effort to modify to move aft anout 2", and then added Gibson Cat Back system with 2 pipes coming out under the bumper. Sounds like V8 but I still want my Hemi swap!
So your V8 sounds like a V8... weird...
