I have read alot on here, on several threads , about the benefits of swapping the v6 throttle body for a v8. I called fastman to ask a question about ordering and he strongly advised against making the swap to the v8 said it wasn't worth it and i would be better with a ported v6 model. Anyone know why exactly? And can i use any 5.2 rockers on my 3.9? Anyone have unlocked superchips for sale?

the throttle body won't make a difference, both will wake up the bottom end and have you more HP. its just that the v8 opened up to 50mm will be 2mm more than the v6 opened up... but it won't effect it... i'ma put a 50mm v8 tb on my v6.


as for the other questions, look in the for sale section and i'm not sure about the rockers.

A lot of people use stock V8 TB's, mostly because they are plentiful and much cheaper than a modified V6 TB. The rockers from a 5.2 will work just fine on your V6 but you won't gain anything because they are the same as the ones you have

Dwight, Reading you post I can't help but think you measured wrong.... but I know that isn't the case.... 39mm at the step! that's nuts, I would have never guessed. Out of curiosity have you measured a V8?

were you tryning to order a ported v8 TB? cuz as far as ive been told you can easily go overboard and have too much air. a stock v8 TB, is really all you need unless your engine is heavily modified. plus its cheaper if you go to the local "parts garden"

thats what ive been told anyway.

I like mine I have a stock V8 one. The cable that was there is the one I used I think the person who had it before me must of had a V8 TB before. I made my own CAI and removed the a/c. Now I have to do is work on a exhaust to flow and sound nice.

i know this a old thread. but what do you mean a v8 cable? im buying a v8 throttle body this weekend and i wanna pull everything i need for it at once. and im pulling it off a 360. will that work ok?

which cable are you speaking of? i was under the impression that the bigger bore tb would be a direct bolt up?? just wondering cuz im interested in a v8 tb,,

why would you rid of the spacer?? jw i never noticed any real difference with it but its already there lol, and will it work?? i know the mounting for the plates of the bodies are the same but are the ports inside the same from v6 to v8?? thanks

you would just need even longer bolts. but it should work. and they just really dont do anything honestly.
