Yet another V6 to V8 thread

I know there are all kinds of threads and conversations on this topic already but I haven’t seen it for my year. I have the 3.9 V6 magnum with an automatic transmission that I’d like to put a V8 in. From what I have read the 318 will be the simplest choice. With everything that I’ve read they always say buy a PCM that came off a 318 of your year. But 2000 Dakota did not have a 318 option. So my first question would be if the easiest way to do the swap would be to buy 2000 Dodge Durango that has the 318 and just swap everything off of it(powertrain, pcm, cluster, upper harness).
